GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : colonna sonora molto piacevole in cui Garvarentz è assistito da Charles Aznavour, anche se non è non accreditato nel extended play. Il tema d'apertura altro non è che "Retiens la nuit" composta l'anno prima dai due amici Franco-Armeni per il film "Les Parisiennes". La dolce melodia che in quest'ultimo film Johnny Hallyday cantava a Catherine Denevue, è qui presente in versione strumentale dall'andamento molto più veloce rispetto a quella cantata e condotta dagli strumenti a fiato con una bella esecuzione della chitarra elettrica. Questo bel tema lo ritroviamo nella seconda parte di "Paris Provence" (b2) in una versione lenta eseguita da violini e orchestra. La prima parte di questo brano ha natura decisamente differente con forti pulsazioni di basso e belle sonorità dei fiati. "Private Club" (a2) è un buon brano jazzistico con sax, tromba e basso in risalto, "Avec Lucie tout s'arrange" (a3) ha ritmo veloce e sonorità jazz di tromba, pianoforte e sassofono. "Le Huguenot" (b1) è un arioso tema sinfonico e "Mademoiselle Pain" (b3) è caratterizzato dalle buone esecuzioni di flauto e pianoforte.

Notes : a very pleasant soundtrack where Garvarentz is assisted by Charles Aznavour, even if uncredited on the extended play. The opening theme is nothing but "Retiens la nuit" composed the year before by the two Armenian-French friends for the film "Les Parisiennes". The sweet melody that in the latter Johnny Hallyday sang to Catherine Denevue, is here in instrumental version on a much faster development than the vocal one and led by the wind instruments with a fine rendition of the electric guitar. We find again this beautiful theme in the second part of "Paris Provence" (b2) in a slow version performed by violins and orchestra. The first part of this track has decidedly a different nature with strong bass pulsations and nice brass sonorities. "Private Club" (a2) is a nice jazzy track with sax, trumpet and bass in prominence, "Avec Lucie tout s'arrange" (a3) has fast rhythm and jazz sound by trumpet, piano and sax. "Le Huguenot" (b1) is an airy and symphonic theme and "Mademoiselle Pain" (b3) is characterized by the good performances of flute and piano.
