GERONIMO BLACK s/t ORIGINAL GERMAN LP 

issued in 1972 is a surprisingly solid album with a varied and occasionally experimental sound with plenty of hardrock/progressive moves, the record, at the time, attracted almost no attention and the group split up shortly after its release... but wait ~ remains one hell of an overlooked album from over 50 years ago.

The record is in EX to NM condition and the textured cover is in NM condition.  

Sometimes appreciated, other times vastly underestimated, this hairy crew delivers a cool sound, led by ex-members of Mothers Of Invention (Jimmy Carl Black) and Arthur Lee & Love (Tjay Cantrelli, Da Capo era) ...Highlights include the throbbing thumper "Low Riding Man" and the scorching "An American National Anthem" ...but there is much more involved...

Geronimo Black would be just another of the hundreds of all but forgotten semi-progressive hard rock bands of the early '70s but for the pedigree of the group's members. Geronimo Black was formed by former Mothers of Invention drummer Jimmy Carl Black in 1970, shortly after Frank Zappa broke up the original Mothers. Named after his youngest son (who has since grown up to be a musician himself), Geronimo Black was Black's band all the way, although he was one of two lead singers and everyone in the band contributed to the songwriting. Besides Black on drums and vocals and his Mothers bandmate Bunk Gardner on keyboards and reeds, the group also included incredible winds player Tjay Cantrelli (who had previously been in the second LP lineup of Love), guitarist and singer Denny Walley (who ironically would later work for Frank Zappa for several years in the late '70s and early '80s), bassist Tom Leavey, and drummer and keyboardist Andy Cahan (who would later join another set of ex-Zappaites, Flo & Eddie, (aka the Turtles).
