WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and HARD TO FIND original High Fidelity CBS Records very first STEREO press released by CBS Records in Chile in 1963, made and distributed by Goluboff Industrias Fonográficas S.A. Records (Goluboff Records), catalog number 9069, with machine etched matrix numbers XSM 57960 in Side 1 and XSM 57961 in Side 2, with orange/black boxed CBS Records labels. It’s very interesting to see that in both front and back cover are informed the Stereo and Mono catalog numbers, but the record is in Stereo sound. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!! WOW!!!

“JERU” was originally released early 1963 and we didn’t have to wait much to see this great album, because late 1963 we got it here in Chile and like usual in that period we got it with an UNIQUE COVER made of a single piece of cardboard folded in the middle with two sheets of paper attached to that cardboard for front and back cover, so 3 sides are open and kept together for a plastic bag. Front cover keeps strictly the original artwork with all text in English only. But back cover is totally different, with album title and tracklist in English only and all the other text, including a brief review of Gerry Mulligan and this album, only in Spanish. And at the bottom edge of back cover they included ads for other 2 CBS jazz albums: “Miles And Monk At Newport” by Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk and “Gone With The Wind” by The Dave Brubeck Quartet. In labels the tracklist is written in English only, with full credits for songwriters. So, here you have the chance to get and own a VERY RARE jazz record released in Chile, “JERU” by Gerry Mulligan, original of 1963 and with UNIQUE COVER, a record almost never seen and only auctioned here in eBay a handful of times, A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Gerry Mulligan and Jazz music!!! And what a great condition!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX or EX+ condition, no missing parts, no ring marks, no blemishes, minimal rips, some minimal age browning and some wear in the edges and corners, but in absolute great condition. The record is in EX or EX+ condition, glossy and clean, no scratches, only light hairlines and some light scuffs, which don’t affect play. Labels on both sides are in great NM- or NM condition, clean and clear. The sound is the best part, it’s in great EX+ or NM- condition the Side 1, loud, clear and clean, with no background noise at all (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), but with some occasional light crackles here and there, and two soft clicks in the second song, and in EX or EX+ condition the Side 2, loud and clear, but with a soft background noise in the first two songs and one click in the silent part between the tracks 5 and 6, maybe some dust particle, so I’d recommend a professional vacuum or ultrasonic cleaning. Most of songs play in absolute NM condition. Overall, maybe this record could not to be for strict Minty minds or audiophiles, but for sure it’s still a great record with a very nice look, almost immaculate labels and amazing sound quality after about 59 years, which won’t disappoint anyone and will satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean issue!!! A classic album, a classic movie, a classic hit of the 60’s and this is the chance to get it with an UNIQUE COVER!!! Yes Sirs, what a FIND!!! We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
