Description
Set of three x 10" LPs of the GERRY MULLIGAN QUARTET released in 1953 on Vogue Records as 'Volume 1', 'Volume 2' and 'Volume 3 plus Lee Konitz' - Catalogue nos L.D.E. 029, 030 & 031.
As well as Mulligan's tell-tale baritone sax, all three records include CHET BAKER on trumpet, along with Bob Whitlock, Carson Smith or Joe Mandragon (uncredited) on bass and Chico Hamilton or Larry Bunker on drums. Credits are listed on the disc labels (see example photo of one of the Volume 3 labels, including LEE KONITZ on alto sax).
All three records are UK first editions (with Vogue Records address in Charlotte Street, London - later versions are Fulham Rd) and are from my personal collection, having come to me via family.
The records are graded as in Very Good (VG) condition, as each has some clicks and pops but all three play throughout, with no jumps (played on a high-end turntable). All sleeves are graded as Very Good+ (VG+), with no rips or tears and only one of the edges (Vol 2) slightly split along the spine. Due to age, the back of each show some discolouration (e.g. 'yellowing'), but all are perfectly legible, with no serious marks, handwriting, etc (see photos).
