Gerry Rafferty's breakthrough solo album, released in 1978 after years of legal battles that had kept him off the market following Stealers Wheel.

City to City hit #1 in the US and UK, driven by "Baker Street" — one of the most recognizable songs of the era, built around Raphael Ravenscroft's unforgettable saxophone riff. "Right Down the Line" and "Home and Dry" were further hits. The album is a masterclass in polished, melodic songwriting — Rafferty at the peak of his craft.

Recorded at Chipping Norton Studios with engineer Barry Hammond, with additional sessions at Marquee and Berwick Street Studios. Produced by Hugh Murphy and Gerry Rafferty.

This is an original US First Pressing on United Artists Records (UA-LA840-G). Pressed at Columbia Records, Terre Haute, Indiana.

Mastered at Artisan Sound Recorders, Hollywood — one of Southern California's premier mastering facilities, founded by Bob MacLeod in the 1960s. More than 500 gold and platinum recordings passed through Artisan. The Artisan logo stamp is present in the deadwax on both sides.

United Artists sunburst label — yellow and orange cloud design, correct for the original 1978 US issue.

This copy is still in its original shrink wrap with the original ALCO Discount Stores hype sticker intact — "Music Is Your Best Entertainment Value" — with the original $5.29 price tag. After 47 years that shrink is remarkable.
