"Ultra rare lp, one of the hardest to find recordings of the legendary Lasry-Baschet metal and glass sound sculptures, put out by the Belgian jazz label Igloo (which also released Fred Van Hove, Leo Kupper, Jacques Bekaert, Henri Chopin, etc.). This obscure experimental improv group features Gerard Jamart, Pierre Goth, and Jean-Claude Joigneaux performing on Structures Sonores Baschet along with contrabass, percussion, trumpet, and voice. Great avant garde/free jazz sounds abound (a la New Phonic Art, John Zorn, Borbetomagus, Musica Elettronica Viva/MEV, FMP, Incus, etc.), with the players at times playing their instruments directly into the sculptures to create beautiful alien resonances and overtones. Includes insert. The Baschet Structures Sonores have been used in composition and performance by Andres Lewin-Richter, Ravi Shankar, Toru Takemitsu, Michel Deneuve, Sigfried Fink, Jacques Doyen, Sarah Gorby, Michael Ranta, Stomu Yamash'ta, Jean Cocteau, Edgard Varese, John Cage, David Tudor, Yehudi Menuhin, Pierre Schaeffer and Jean Schwartz of the INA-GRM, and Jacques, Yvonne, and Teddy Lasry of Magma; they compare to the sound sculpture and homemade instrument work of Paul Panhuysen, Harry Bertoia Sonambient, Harry Partch, Z'ev, and Robert Rutman."
