Ghedalia Tazartes "Une eclipse totale de soleil" LP issued by Celluloid (CELL 6661) in France, 1984. ****** Rec:m- / Cov:ex ****** Your chance to get a perfect copy of the rarest Tazartes LP, his true masterpiece. Practically self published by the artist through Celluloid and never officially distributed. Probably part of the copies were destroyed since it has always been impossible to find, even back in 1984. Ghedalia Tazartes's third album was released on the Celluloid label. Sounding quite unlike the output of his more academic contemporaries, Tazartes' music compiles fragments of tapes, voices and various other sound recordings in a fashion that's very idiomatic and new sounding, even by contemporary standards. The two sides are made up from sung passages of Middle Eastern musics, drum machine noises, distorted signals and the voices of small children. Born in France of Turkish descent, his compositions use modern musical language and concepts of organized sound, incorporating many languages, and expressing incredible and bizarre musical attitudes that lock the listener's focus. He uses the tools of the academics in the manner of a rock musician, but without the ego, and indeed, with a huge sense of humor and awe for the world around us. Tazartes' work went largely unnoticed in the 70s and 80s that his most creative compositions were released, and he has only recently received the interest he deserves. "Une eclipse total de soleil" was originally a work in two parts with incredibly creative music, along with many voicings, from those of children to inexplicably odd chattering and chanting. It also incorporates a canary, a woman on the stairs, and the vacuum-cleaner's miraculé!
