Description
This is an original U.S. pressing copy of the debut LP by California group the Giant Crab, released in 1968. Comprised of the three Orosco brothers and the two Fricia brothers, the group was packaged as a product of its time -- its name derived from the zodiac, and both the cover art and the title track cheesily narrated by a local DJ were suitably trippy -- and played catchy, high-energy pop-rock with distorted guitar, horns, and multi-part vocal harmonies. They broke up after a second LP, and two of the Orosco brothers went on to form heavy rock outfit Big Brother, who recorded one rare LP for the local All-American label. The jacket is in fine condition with light corner, spine, and seam wear, and light staining along the edge on the back cover -- EX(+). “Promotional Copy/Not for Sale” is stamped on the back cover. Visually, the disc has some scraping, scuffing, and loss of glossiness. It plays with some crackling and light popping at the start of the last track on side 2, and otherwise with some light surface noise and a stray light pop (VG++). Side 2 labels are on both sides of the disc (“I” is written in pen on the label on side 1).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
