GIGI GRYCE "ORCHESTRA/QUARTET" LP. Vintage MONO heavy vinyl pressing on the ultra rare SIGNAL label, S-1201. Tan label with black lettering and black & white logo - NOT A REISSUE. 'RVG' etched in the trail-off on both sides The personnel: Gigi Gryce/alto sax; Art Farmer/trumpet; Eddie Bert, "James Van Dyke"/trombone; Danny Bank, Cecil Payne/baritone sax; Gunther Schuller, Julius Watkins/French horn; Bill Barber/tuba; Horace Silver, Thelonious Monk/piano; Oscar Pettiford, Percy Heath/bass; Art Blakey, Kenny Clarke/drums; Ernestine Anderson/vocalist. The vinyl is in phenomenal EX++ to NM condition (ultra glossy). Gorgeous! The thick cardboard cover is in VG++ shape, displays nicely. Faint 'Disk Jockey Only' promo stamp on back at top. Minor 2" seam wear/splitting at bottom right edge. NO cut-out marks, and the front cover graphics are particularly striking.
