GIL EVANS – BIG STUFF – NEW JAZZ 8215 – EX/M- DEEP GROOVE - MONO
Recorded at three different sessions: September 6 & 27, and October 10, 1957 at the Van Gelder studio, the personnel is as follows: Gil Evans on piano, John Carisi, Jake Koven and Louis Mucci on trumpets, Jimmy Cleveland on trombone, Bart Varaslona on bass trombone, Wille Ruff on French horn, Lee Konitz on alto, Steve Lacy on soprano, Dave Kurtzer on bassoon, Paul Chambers, Jo Jones and Nick Stabulas on drums. SIDE A: REMEMBER; ELLA SPEED and BIG STUFF. SIDE B: NOBODY’S HEART; JUST ON OF THOSE THINGS; IF YOU COULD SEE ME NOW and JAMBANGLE. The Initials “RVG” are stamped in the blank vinyl on both sides of the LP. This is a Deep Groove pressing and a MONO recording.
I have graded the vinyl as EX and the record jacket is M- for the following reasons. The vinyl is clean of any marks, except two very small ones on SIDE A, which do not interfere with play. There are some marks around the spindle hole on the label, but no sign of wear on the spindle hole itself. The vinyl retains its original luster. The record jacket is in near mint condition with little to no sign of wear. There is one very small fold over on the liner notes, but it doesn’t take anything from the record jacket itself.
