This is a very rare original 1971 copy of Gilberto Gil’s self titled English LP on US Paramount PAS-6014. The Brazilian legend was trying to break into the American market with this (mostly) English album, featuring his famous cover of Blind Faith’s Can’t Find My Way Home, and the rest original songs. This is a very nice copy except for one flaw, which is a scratch on side one that makes a light tick that starts at the end of the first song, Nēga, and goes through the entire second song, Can’t Find My Way Home, and into part of the third, The Three Mushrooms. It is only there for part of this third song, and only at the very end of the first, but it ticks through the whole second song. Not a loud pop, and no skips or anything like that, but this is an issue. The rest of the record plays beautifully, with only maybe the tiniest soft crackle between a couple of songs, but barely. Really it plays beautifully except for what I mentioned. Side two is EX, side one has some scuffs and this scratching. The cover is quite nice, with a cutout notch at the lower left, and some light edge and corner wear, and a faint ring, but really quite clean.
Anyhow this record goes for at least 100 when it is in closer to perfect shape, so here is a bargain copy! It is still quite lovely and very enjoyable, despite the scratching on those few songs.
