Gino Marinacci - Amico flauto
Italian pressing, Idea IL 5001 (1972)
Very rare soundtrack from the 1972 RAI TV programme "Amico Flauto". Amazing and ultra stylish groovy jazz and hip funk session led by flute player Gino Marinacci with his charateristic bass flute featuring top Italian jazz musicians like Armando Trovajoli (spinett), Antonello Vannucchi (organ, piano), Dino Piana (trombone), Lino Cerveglieri (tenor sax, flute), Giovanni Tommaso (bass), Angelo Baroncini (guitar), Roberto Podio (drums).
Absolutely killer funky drums on "Ricordando Bach" featuring the dark sounding flute of Marinacci plus the groovy Trovajoli's spinett solo. "La Campanella" is incredibly funky too, very I Marc 4 sounding with amazing tenor sax and hammond solo plus four (or five) flutes playing together!
Dino Piana's trombone solo (as on the Idea Lp on RCA) on the super hip jazz rendition of Bach's "Tema dalla sonata N.4 in Do maggiore". "Da i racconti di fata", my very favourite track, kindly backed by Giovanni Tommaso and Angelo Baroncini is just awesome moody jazz theme with the magnificent partecipation of the viola player Dino Asciolla.
Side B is more focuses on bossa and Italian library-style moody jazz. Totally different personell in favour of the brazilian rhythm featuring Irio De Paula (guitar), Giorgio Rosciglione (bass), Alfonso Vieira (drums), Mandrake (percussions) and Antonello Vannnucchi (organ).
Record housed in a fantastic gatefold sleeve painted by Sandro Lodolo. Long soundclip recorded as the Lp is entirely great! Listen!
