Gioconda De Vito / Tito Aprea –Beethoven, Kreutzer Sonata No. 9 in A Major, Op. 47
Gioconda de Vito (1907-1994) was one of the few female violinists able to establish themselves as soloists on the concert platform during the first half of the 20th century. Born in the South Italian region of Puglia, the artist studied in Pesaro and Rome, accepting her first professorship at the tender age of seventeen. De Vito built an international career which took her as far afield as Argentina and Australia. In Germany she was especially highly regarded during the 1930s and 40s. Bach, Beethoven and Brahms represented the main pillars of her repertoire which, however, largely eschewed more modern music. De Vito cultivated a sumptuously romantic tone and never sought superficial violinistic brilliance. In 1961, aged only fifty-four, she retired from the concert stage
Tito Aprea was one of the best students of Alessandro Longo, with whom he graduated at the Conservatorio San Pietro a Majella in Naples in 1919. After graduating, in 1924, the diploma of composition under the guidance of Gennaro Naples, he began a brilliant career that led him to many European countries. He married the violinist Menuccia Zito, in 1927 became director of the Institute drew "Giuseppe Verdi" in Tunis, where he remained until 1937, when it gained, following the national competition, the main piano chair at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome.
Not the greatest copy of this record you will come across but it is the original highly sought after UK mono HMV 1st press Ed.1 red & gold grooved labels. It’s definitely far too good to throw out and although it plays with background crackle and a few clicks/pops here and there, it’s still a great listen!!! It would probably benefit from a professional clean! Saying that, it would probably be best used as a collection filler until a better copy comes along. See description below.

Vinyl side 1: good (has quite a few noticeable scratches and scrapes and plays with background crackle and a few clicks/pops here and there but nothing that really spoils your enjoyment of the music, it’s still a great listen, plays with no jumps or sticks).
Vinyl side 2: good (has quite a few noticeable scratches and scrapes and plays with background crackle and a few clicks/pops here and there but nothing that really spoils your enjoyment of the music, it’s still a great listen, plays with no jumps or sticks).
Cover (fully laminated, scalloped double flip-back): good (split on centre on spine edge, a few small spine creases, corner wear,).

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
