"The violinist Gioconda de Vito rarely could be tempted into the recording studios since she was a highly self-critical, demanding artist who found making records a great ordeal. She retired early while still at the height of her powers and became a largely forgotten figure. In recent times her true worth as an artist has been recognized by record lovers all over the world. Her record of Bach and Mozart concertos, made at the very end of her career, was her only stereo recording. It is one of the rarest and most sought after items in the LP collectors’ market, and original copies continue to increase in price..."
