Description
GIULINI / PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA / SCHUBERT / BRAHMS - " UNFINISHED SYMPHONY / VARIATIONS ON A THEME BY HAYDN ", Columbia/EMI Records Ltd. (SAX 2424) Stereo, 1962.
Very rare English, 1st pressing, Stereo LP with original turquise & silver label and front laminated, flip-back sleeve - see photo.
English issue and pressing.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been retained and included in the auction - see photo)
CONDITION:
VINYL = EX- (PLAYS EXCELLENT) (No big or deep scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, no excessive surface noise, only light spindle trails, etc. Under a bright grading lamp I can make out two minute marks, no deeper than paper scuffs - these are purely visual and during playback, these very slight cosmetic flaws do not correspond directly to any audible defects.
On playback, there is some faint surface noise during the silent run-in (in the pressing) which disappears as soon as the music starts. It plays really well - strong, clean and without interuptions.
Not quite an untouched museum piece or a sterile CD (thank goodness!), but a good honest copy of a great LP for someone out there to play and enjoy as it was originally intended.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = EX- (No big creases, rips, tears, defacing, etc. Still in reasonable shape, but had to be marked down for wear and tiny creases along the edges and corners of the sleeve - see photos for further clarification)
