Reluctantly I'm finally making the move to sell my entire record collection.

Thirty years of collecting vinyl is finally taking its toll on my living space.

I HAVE CHOSEN TO COMMIT MYSELF TO PLAY TESTING ALL MY VINYL. BECAUSE OF THIS MY LISTINGS WILL BE UPGRADED IN BULK RUNS WHEN I HAVE HAD THE TIME TO CHECK THEM ALL. Sleeve

Printed by Senol printing. Near mint. Front laminated only. Brilliant glossy sheen, whites are white, no creasing . No sticker, or hand writing. And no ring wear. A really near pristine looking sleeve. Edges are all in excellent condition, with no signs of edge wear.  The opening edge is flat with no signs of feathering. The spine if perfect with no wear or creasing and all text is clear and visible. The corners are super sharp, amazing to find a copy this way. The sleeve has no splits either. There is very little if any sign of use. A beautiful example of a very well preserved sleeve. It grades my highest grade of excellent plus.

Inner sleeve

Comes with a plain paper inner with circular window both sides, it grades very good. I will be providing a new plain white record inner with the original inner for means of shipping.

Labels

Both labels are super clean and bright. No sticker marks ,no handwriting. Center hole is tight and hasn’t been worn down. Beautiful vibrant colour. Very nominal spindle marks present under strong light. Both grade an easy excellent plus.

Side one audio grade

First track |”Intensified ‘68”starts this side off well, nice clean audio. Sounding brilliant. Pretty quiet between tracks “ Words” starts off sounding really well, quite a low track. Not much, background crackle being heard, if at all it is very low and in super quiet areas. “A.B.C Rocksteady”; like the other tracks so far there is no deterioration to the high or low end frequencies, the sound is warm and crisp. Some very light crackle between tracks. “ If I only had time” starts well, nice and clear sounding.

Side one visual grade

A very bright looking side. Not trashed at all. There are numerous fine lines, and moderate amount of scratches. If any affect the playback I will make a not of it above in the audio grades section. It grades very good minus.

 Side two audio grade

Ok, so it starts off with a generally clean sounding lead in with some very mild crackle in the back. Track sounds fresh though. “Ride mi donkey” is another classic that is sounding really good on this side. Rich and warm as you’d hope for. Some sporadic low crackle heard in infrequent isolated areas. Moving along to “ Rainbow valley” we have a rich sounding track. Some low background crackle in a couple of moments. I just mention this for accuracy, it can in fact hardly be heard. It’s a great sounding track and the playback quality is of as high standard. Very little noise between tracks. “Love me forever” is a very quiet track, and a classic. The guitars are jumping out of the well balanced mix. The piano,  as with the rest of the side, sits well within the mix. Sounds lovely. Lastly “Once upon a time” skanks in , picking up the pace a bit. Sounds great! So, all in all a very listenable side with audio of a high quality. No pops or clicks, no jumps or skips. I’m grading this side as excellent.

Side two visual grade

Like side one, this side has a bright sheen. This side also does not looked trashed. It does however have numerous fines lines, and moderate scratches. If any of these show up during playback I will mention it above in the audio grade. This side grades as very good minus.

 Final thoughts

Pioneers of Rocksteady Lyn Taitt, and Gladstone Anderson cut some formidable tunes. This is a great selection of tracks. The cover looks just about perfect, and very well preserved. The vinyl does have some marks, but is not on its last legs by any means. The audio playback for me was of a high standard throughout. Some mild surface noises but not anything that took away from the pleasure I had listening to this gem.

GRADING

I use the U.K Rare Record Guide grading system detailed below.

MINT The LP or single is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT The LP or single shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD The LP or single has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and an occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover and contents without any major defects.

GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

POSTAGE

All records come with a protective poly sleeve, and new white inner. Records are shipped outside of the sleeve within reinforced cardboard packaging to ensure safety during transit.
