Description
Glen Gray and his Orchestra (the Casa Loma Band) recorded in 1933 on this Program Transcription by VICTOR as L-16023.This is a One Sided record with three tracks recorded consecutively, starting with "Dardanella"(instrumental) then "Black Eyed Susan Brown"(with vocals), and ends with "Casa Loma Stomp" (Instrumental). There are no visual separations between tracks. Surface looks pretty good but does have an off center visible wear ring and when playede does have noticeable surface noise. This record looks and feels like a shellac 78rpm record, however it was recorded at 33 1/3 so it can be played on a standard modern turntable. However if played with a needle designed for lp's such as a .7 mil needle the sound quality is degraded and the surface noise is more noticeable. When played with a 3 mil needle designed for 78's the sound quality is more mellow and the noise level a little less annoying. The samples I have provided were played at 33 1/3 on a Califone 1010 78 player at the proper 33 1/3 speed.
