SATISFY MY HUNGER / SOLD OUT ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by GLORIA SOUL AND THE HOT GRITS. Original US pressing on the GOLDEN RECORDS label (GR 116), from circa late '60s. Outstanding, sister funk / northern soul double-sider by this obscure singer and group from Louisiana. Great for DJs. Our soundclip opens with a sample featuring the funky B-boy drum breaks from SATISFY MY HUNGER followed by the full theme and then the SOLD OUT side. Booming swamp funk rhythms with killer drums and infectious piano / big voices and production. The mid tempo funky soul of SOLD OUT is more sophisticated with a contemporary singer song-writer feel. We really like the funky drummer on this recording, refreshingly different and individual sound. Never comes up for sale with vinyl in near archive condition, like this copy. Very rare 45!!!
Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
Vinyl is close to shiny M- condition overall with a few hairlines / scuffs from sleeve removal / storage. Some light surface noises. Taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of the soundclip. Archive and demo sticker plus 'X' notation scratch to label (see scan images). Record housed in plain white card sleeve. No custom label sleeve exists for this label. Very rare 45!!!
