Glyders have been around since 2014, but it took them until 2023 to release their debut. The follow up, Forever, sees the band their first "full band" album, now that drummer Joe Seger is firmly settled into the ranks alongside Joshua Condon and Eliza Weber. The band certainly seem settled, and Forever is a short, but staggering journey through a blues and rock 'n' roll space odyssey. There's a looseness and rough edge to them that pulls on Garage Rock like The Monks and a kind of taut energy that calls to mind Thee Oh Sees. 'Super Glyde' kicks things off with a wah-drenched riff pitched against lazily stummed guitar, before things tighten up into a Rock 'n' Roll road trip. 'Stone Shadow' sets the band's ethos out quite clearly as Condon states "I ain't got no money, I just wanna have a ball" and it's quite clear everyone's invited. The tale of a relationship gone wrong, 'Thousand Miles', should probably sound darker and more heartbroken, but instead has a West Coast vibe that combines sunshine lazy melodies, and nonchalance. The drawn out repetition of 'Steppin'/Tell Me About The Rabbit' is perhaps the band at their best. A hypnotic jam, that tells you very little about a rabbit, but quite a bit about rabbit holes. If you want to know about rabbits, ask Alice.
