The Robert Forster and Grant McLennan-led Brisbane new wave group The Go Betweens remain one of the most iconic cult acts to have ever emerged from down under. On the band's fifth album, released in 1987 and now seeing a gleaming reissue, they added multi-instrumentalist Amanda Brown, thus making for a more richly-textured affair than their offerings to that point. Despite the added drama of strings, the band retain their off-kilter 60s-influenced melodic charm and jangly intimacy. The single 'Right Here' is up there with the best Echo and The Bunnymen stuff and is a strong reminder as to why the group are so heavily revered decades on from their breakout years.
