Description
Recently a friend passed away - he was a gem of a person, and aside from the obvious sadness involved in all that, he was renowned for having one of the best collections of 60's Garage, Beat, Punk & Psychedelic 7"s, EPs and LPs (especially of Australian artists) - gathered together meticulously and carefully for longer than the 36 year period I'd known him. Some things he'd parted with over the past few years of little work and continuing overheads, and a small section was stolen by someone also well-known here (I suspect her karma will come) - but the bottom line is, he had amazingly good taste, and (like a previous recent collection I was selling here) the gems he had were mostly handpicked for excellence....[with some others gathered to complete (often very obscure) label collections].
Anyway, this is one of that huge collection...all of which will appear here over the next few weeks.ARTIST: BOBBY (BRIGHT) AND LAURIE (ALLEN)..(with backing by The Rondells) -
TITLE: "BOBBY AND LAURIE" .
FORMAT: …vinyl LP…
LABEL: GO!! .
CAT. #: GLP-3001 .
DATE OF RELEASE: OCT. 1965 .
PRESSED IN: AUSTRALIA .
ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING? Yes, it is... .
Mono original with flipback cover (I've never seen a stereo pressing...did it exist??)...So...what makes this a first pressing?...there's 3 things, all to do with the label:
1. the label design (in this first pressing, the song titles are in non-italic, i.e. upright, lettering; ...on both sides, all 3 publishers' logos are to the right of the centre-hole; ...album title and artist name, in that order, are directly beneath the centre-hole; ....plus there is NO mention of production credits...see below)
2. an error in the publishing details (on the Side Two label, "You Got It Off Me", written by The Easybeats' George Young and Stevie Wright, has publishing credits listed as Apollo Music, when it should have been J. Albert & Son - and consequently the Alberts logo does NOT appear on the label), and
3. the omission of production credits (as hinted at above, the second label has "PRODUCED BY ASTOR & D.Y.T. SERVICES" directly below the centre-hole on both sides, but this wording NOT appear anywhere on this first label).
I've shown pix of the second labels for you to compare...but no gettin' confused on what you're bidding on, OK?
THE MUSIC: most are killer garage cuts...really!! It's one super-consistent album...way up there with The Allusions, The Missing Links, Mike Furber And The Bowery Boys LPs as one of thee best Aussie 60's garage albums.
SEE PIC FOR TRACK LISTING.
CONDITION:
COVER: (VG+)...has clear tape on all four edges...plus some green pen marks where someone has tried to 'repair' a few odd crinkle or scuff marks...
VINYL: (VG+)...it's in VERY nice condition...has several light marks as its only blemishes...plays beautifully with a few light crackles on the couple of quieter numbers...
LABELS: (Side One: M- / Side Two: EX)...
If you have any concerns about the accuracy of my gradings, please check my feedback for the odd nice comment from some satisfied folk out there.... (and hopefully you may be able to join their ranks).
You can pay in US$'s or UK pounds or EURO's or Australian dollars.

Thanks for considering this item. Best of luck if you decide to bid...Cheers, Jules.
