Description

Hard to find 2nd lp by Goblin Mix on Flying Nun Records, New Zealand.  Vinyl and Jacket are Near-Mint with insert.

NOTES:The second album on Flying Nun produced by this rock quartet from the '80s. Members of this group would later appear in greater known New Zealand pop underground groups, Steven and the 3Ds. In the South Pacific this group made pop music akin to the Pixies and Yo La Tengo, and, like many of their labelmates, seemed to be ten years ahead of their time. On this definitive collection, the short-lived band display an Eno circa "Here Come the Warm Jets" influence and crafty and unorthodox arrangement sense that is similar to the Verlaines, were they more often inclined to step on the distortion pedal. The U.K. indie sound of the Loft and Robyn Hytchock's Soft Boys spring to mind. While the '80s production style may not date well, the songs still get away unscathed, and the prominent fuzz guitar has a sound that Sonic Youth would envy. Echoes of this album can be heard in later Flying Nun, as well as Kiwiophiles Pavement and Yo La Tengo, who have tipped hats to this awesome and crafty avant- pop band.
