LOL CREME / KEVIN GODLEY    -    'Consequences'      3LP box set    UK    1977     (cat#   Mercury  CONS 017 / 6641 658)

Debut album by former 10CC members  Godley & Creme.     Created as a concept album, it incorporates a play, with characters voiced by comedian Peter Cook, and some vocals by Sarah Vaughan.   The concept of the album was described at the time as "the story of man's last defense against an irate nature".

An experimental, bordering on the avant-garde recording, the album now has a cult following with a website devoted to it;   http://www.suppertime.co.uk/blint/

Comes in original hinged hard box with three different coloured printed inner sleeves and large (11”x11”) booklet. 

CONDITION:        I strive to provide an accurate and honest appraisal of condition.  It’s in my best interests to do so.  I WANT YOU TO COME BACK!    All records are checked in good light and play tested at a loud volume (unless described as sealed, brand new or stated otherwise).       STRICT   U.K. MAGAZINE  'RECORD COLLECTOR'  GRADING SYSTEM USED.  See below for the full definitions as provided by Record Collector magazine. 

SUPERB PLAYING CONDITION!    95% of the album plays as MINT.   The other 5% is graded as NrMINT.    Vinyl has clearly had either next to no play or has been extremely well looked after.   There is a tiny, hard to see mark, that causes a dozen or so audible background pops at the beginning of side2.   Hair-line mark on side6 causes some consecutive light background pops.    Other random, occasional faint background pops here and there.    HARD TO FIND IN THIS PLAYING CONDITION   Even the quiet spoken word sections play nice and clear!    If buying to play, buyer will not be disappointed.   NO obtrusive crackle,   NO distortion,   NO jumps,   NO sticking. 

Visually the vinyl is in at least EX+ condition.  Paper scuffs and a couple of hair-lines on disc1.  Less paper scuffs and a couple of hair-lines on disc2.   Couple of hair-lines on side6. 

Labels are MINT.    Only two visible spindle marks.    NO writing.   NO tears.   NO stickers.  

Box is NrMINT.    Very minor wear around the outer edges of the large stuck-on front title sheet stop me from grading as full mint.    All box corners and edges look perfect with no wear.    Box hinge is perfect.  Inside the box looks perfect.   NO splits.  NO tears.   NO writing.   NO stickers.

All 3 inner sleeves are in NrMINT  condition.   Very slight dent to the opening edge of part1 (yellow).  Very tiny wear patch (not split) to the bottom of part3 (purple).  Other than that inner sleeves look as good as new.

Booklet is in NrMINT condition.

In superb overall condition, virtually like going back to 1977 and buying a new one.

Record Collector Magazine Grading System  - VINYL

MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint

EXCELLENT (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG) The record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratches. Normal wear and tear on the cover and extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable

GOOD (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeable deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and or deface

POOR (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing

BAD (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken and is only of use as a collection filler
