Even further out than Contact High with the Godz, Godz Two is, at times, one of the most deliberately annoying, purposefully incompetent albums ever made. White Light/White Heat has nothing on it, though admittedly the much purer in intent, Philosophy of the World has it beat for sheer cacophony. But it's hard to get one's head around tracks like "Squeak," a nearly five-minute violin solo by Larry Kessler that sounds like what might happen if someone slowly fed a Stradivarius through a crosscut paper shredder, and the bewilderingly random "Riffin'," which sounds like the work of a set of off-their-meds paranoid schizophrenics posing as the Holy Modal Rounders. Other tracks, however, foretell the almost normal pop song direction that the Godz would explore on their next album: "Soon the Moon" and the closing "Permanent Green Light" foreshadow both the streamlined motorik sound of Neu! and other Krautrock-based bands and the inspired amateurism that was the stock in trade of the Flying Nun Records stable in the mid-'80s. A hacksawed cover of the Beatles' "You Won't See Me" splits the difference.

In the March 2000 poll by the Mojo magazine, The Godz, a relatively obscure psych/garage band from the mid-to-late 1960's, was voted out one of the seminal top-200 cult bands of all time. The Magazine specifically attributed the Godz's influence and surprisingly sparse, austere guitar-driven sound to such later bands as Sonic Youth and Nirvana. This rare 1968 second album, was recorded for the legendary experimental/radical/avant-garde ESP label. The music will shake your speakers off their stands. The Godz were one of the most rudimentary, primitive and crude, but at the same time most genuine, of all 1960's psych/garage bands. Hearing is believing. The songs are: Radar Eyes - Riffin' - Where - New Song - Sqeek - Soon the Moon - Crusade - You won't see me (Yes, they are covering the classic Beatle song here) - Travelin' salesman - Permanent Green Light. (a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial  and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant).For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.
