MANY YEARS AGO: no see ... VERY RARE and CLEAN old 1971 classic underground album with block print lettering on thick grainy cover and pig logo sticker. Very clean considering the pastel color cover usually is quite dirty some 48 years later. Here's a near M- special survivor!

The epic album is said to be a whopping 77 minutes long over the course of the two sides... pressed on the legendary TRADE MARK OF QUALITY (TMOQ) label, pioneers of live & rare pressings at the turn of 1970

Recorded live in 1971, in Los Angeles, this is rarely seen, and when it does turn up, it's usually in poor condition.
At the time of this legendary gig, Neil Young was the biggest drawing name the music industry has to offer, 45+ years later, he's still one of the biggest stars. "Live At The Los Angeles Music Center" sold a whole lot of copies, 48 years later most surviving copies are tucked away into private music libraries or destroyed. That’s pretty damn amazing for an underground LP. And why? The album is a very enjoyable product. A recording of an outstanding performance by a great talent. Assisted only by his own guitar or piano, Young whipped through some of his most popular tunes and revealed some new ones (four of which are on Harvest). Aside from the grey area involved with the genre of such records, it was one of best albums issue in 1971.
A very good audience recording, the album made its mark before standard bootleg Lp's and light years before CDs caught on ... and Neil Young collectors probably owned either a copy of the vinyl or the tracks on cassette.
When Neil Young walked on stage at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on February 1, 1971 in Los Angeles, he was alone without his superstar band mates Crosby, Stills and Nash. Just his trusty harmonica, guitar and a grand piano. This was to be the first of many solo tours.

This tour was called "A Journey Through The Past."
As was his way in the early days, Young peppered his performances with only original songs and daringly so with new songs he’d yet to record. He brimmed with confidence that his songs were enough to keep people interested. Just a glance at the set list for this evening - Old Man, Cowgirl In The Sand, Sugar Mountain, Don’t Let It Bring You Down - showed songs that he continued to play up till the present. This evening he even included Ohio, about the four students shot dead on campus during a student demonstration against America’s war in Vietnam.

He also sang The Needle And The Damage Done, a painful reminder to himself of the dangers of drugs. And some say his simple-minded I Am A Child. Although how could anyone think of Young as simpleton when his other songs, Tell Me Why and See The Sky About To Rain, all showed he understood just how important love and compassion were. That sometimes these child-like qualities sure beat brainpower and intellectual smugness. There he is, captured on someone’s portable reel-to-reel deck somewhere from the front rows, changing from guitar to piano, chatting with the audience and slowly singing his songs with quiet power. The kind of power that’s found in truthfulness.
1971 was a long time ago. Who would have thought we would still care for Neil Young’s music? The person who recorded this show loved the music enough to make the effort. These days you can buy an expensive hi-fi system for the price of a front-row seat to watch a show of dubious quality. But quality and all, this T.M.O.Q. Records LP, of legend, is the real journey through the past.

                    CONDITION: The cover: rated: near M- front, amazingly preserved, the material is generally wear-prone and fragile pastel, thick and grainy. Block print title on front, pig logo sticker at top right. The back is the same (clean) but for a discoloration stain at top right corner that does not appear on the front! The back cover is blank so imperfection is minor. Still rated highly in this overall condition, so here's a final collection survivor...There are no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing ...

The vinyl: Rated: M- TOP COPY, pressed on dazzling transparent GOLD vinyl. Plays as nice as it did 48 years ago, very clean. Both pig logo labels are immaculate. Good luck finding another copy THIS nice!
