One of the rarest in Golden Earring's long 45+ years discography: the 1969 2xLP in laminated gatefold cover has ALWAYS been one of the bands harder to obtain albums. Filled with strong guitar rock originals with memorable melodies. Original Dutch pressing from 1969. The records are in VG+ to EX condition and the laminated gatefold cover is in EX condition. With psychedelic insert.
Golden Earring, a Dutch beat, psych, prog & hardrock band were formed as the Golden Earrings (the 's' was dropped in 1969). Golden Earring have sold millions of albums worldwide, and they are one of the oldest rock bands in the world.
Golden Earring's 1969 double LP is a competent rendering of a wide variety of period rock styles. It's certainly more accomplished than most bands at the time... There's riff-driven material hinting at the direction they'd pursue more extensively in the famous psych "Wall Of Dolls" album(especially on "Songs on a Devil's Servant"), Continental-flavored hard-rocking pop with English vocals (outstanding stylish singer in Barry Hay) that sounds more British than some British bands... On The Double was one of the first (rock) double albums containing 19 suburb tracks of which "Song Of A Devils Servant" , "Judy" , "Murdock 9-6182" and "Back Biting Baby" are just some of the many highlights. On The Double is a bridge from their beatrock era into their world success ( "Radar Love" and "Twilight Zone"). The album might be the last Nederbeat album of a decade, where the Netherlands was the "in" place to be in the world of rock/beat music in the sixties...
