GOLDIE AND THE GINGERBREADS
SAILOR BOY b/w PLEASE PLEASE
DECCA TEST PRESSING FROM JUNE 1965.
This is a VERY strange pressing on the unboxed Decca record label.
Strange in at least 3 different ways.
Firstly the yellow paper label was reserved for Decca releases in Africa, specifically
in West Africa for High LIfe recordings, The label has MADE IN ENGLAND printed on it.
Secondly it is obviously some kind of test as it is labelled
TEST 4 H. Returning to the text on the label. It has credits to
PAPER: SMITH & MCLAURIN
INK: COATES READIMIX SILVER
on both labels. These were Decca's suppliers of paper and ink in 1965.
Thirdly it is a solid centre not the usual push-out centre of Decca's releases.
It's a solid centre pressing and has the run off
groove matrix numbers:
Side 1 XDRF-36142-TI-1C
Side 2 XDRF-36143-T1-2C
Side one is SAILOR BOY and side two is PLEASE PLEASE.
Both sides of the disc play fully as ex+ no background sound AT ALL

This is a genuine original test pressing from mid 1965, UK first pressing on
the yellow unboxed DECCA record label TEST 4 H with solid centre.
NEVER ISSUED.
I can't recall EVER seeing a SOLID centre Decca release from this date.

NEAR MINT: audio inspection has revealed no scratches or scuffs on the playing surface. The record may have been played but is undamaged.
EXCELLENT+: The smallest of background sound. e.g. one piece of dust in the grooves.
EXCELLENT: audio inspection has revealed no sounding scratches on the playing surface, but there may be the fewest of ight crackles or soft tics. The jacket might have slight wear and/or creasing or fading.
VERY GOOD: audio inspection has revealed some light tics and The jacket might have creasing or other defects which will be pointed out in the listing.
