Description
In 1964, the band that later became Creedence Clearwater Revival auditioned for Fantasy Records as an instrumental group. They were signed to a contract with some odd provisions - they had to change their name to the Golliwogs (they auditioned under the name Tommy Fogerty and the Blue Velvets, and become a "beat band." No problem.
Up for auction is one of the fifth (out of seven) 45 singles made by the Golliwogs, "Fight Fire b/w Fragile Child," Scorpio Records, 405, 1966.
"Fight Fire" features vocals by Tom Fogerty and is still considered a classic.
The record is in very good condition. The labels are perfect with no stains, notations or discoloration. The vinyl is clean. I have played both sides and it sounds great - no static, pops or skips.
