FOR AUCTION !- GONG ‘Angels Egg‘ - Exceptionally Rare Original UK 1973 First Press Release on Virgin Records ; including the hugely rare Original Booklet and a light blue inner sleeve !!!

HARD ENOUGH TO FIND A COPY IN AS STUNNING CONDITION AS THIS, FAR LESS COMING WITH THE ORIGINAL BOOKLET ; PRINTED IN SEVERELY LIMITED NUMBERS !!!

It is thought that as few as two or three hundred of these were issued between ‘The Flying Teapot’ and ’Angels Egg’ albums. Plans originally to also supply these with ’You’ as the third and last ’installment’ of the ’Radio Gnome Invisible’ Trilogy, apparently were scrapped due to financial non-viability ! It is my understanding that the numbers of those supplied with ’Angels Egg’ were even more ’restricted’ as the booklets were withdrawn from inclusion with the album soon after its initial release. It seems therefore, that only very limited numbers of first pressings of ’Angels Egg’ included the 16 page booklet and these are becoming more impossible to find; especially with vinyl of great quality and condition - like this one !!!

These copies typically fetch in advance of £100. The last to sell on eBay went for £138. See ;

This is, perhaps, symptomatic of the increasing scarcity of these ‘booklet - accompanied’ copies ??

Cover Condition : Very Good Plus / Excellent - Original textured gatefold cover with virtually nil creasing and edge or surface wear. ( see photograph ! ) The cover, both front and rear, has some discolouration and ‘spotting’ due to age, storage and the original colour / texture of the cover being susceptible to this ! ( Condition is actually better than in photographs, but I would rather play it down than play it up ! ) All seams are fully intact and adhered, the cover is strong and the spine is very clear with some very mild wear. Inner cover is in near mint condition !

Booklet Condition : Excellent ! Some mild creases and some very mild discolouration to a few very small areas in inner ! Binding staples are intact, but have some rusting due to age / storage. These could be easily replaced, but I didn’t want to tamper with authenticity ! Booklet retains its original sturdiness, and has no rips, tears or splits.

Vinyl Condition : ‘STUNNING’ for its age ! ( I rarely use that descriptor - see my other listings ! ) This copy retains its original deep dark rich blackberry shine and gloss with only a few very light hairlines / faint superficial surface marks only. Labels are the original first press black and white with only a few of the most very faint spots and no spindle marks detectible to me ( see photograph ! ) Original heavier vinyl has a truly special look and feel !!!

Aural Evaluation : ‘STUNNING’ !!! At the risk over over-indulgence this played through astonishingly cleanly and clearly for its age. Robust and clear sound with only the very faintest of light surface crackle in quieter passages ! ABSOLUTELY no skips, jumps, clicks or pops !
