NOTES: Gong is a Franco-British progressive/psychedelic rock band formed by Australian musician Daevid Allen. Their music has also been described as space rock. Other notable band members include Allan Holdsworth, Tim Blake, Didier Malherbe, Pip Pyle, Gilli Smyth, Steve Hillage, Francis Moze, Mike Howlett and Pierre Moerlen. Others who have, albeit briefly, played in Gong include Bill Bruford, Brian Davison and Chris Cutler.Shamal originally released in 1975. The album was written and recorded without the group's founder member Daevid Allen, and consequently sounds different with none of the hippy flavoured eccentricities of the previous albums. However, it still has a generally progressive rock-influenced approach (especially with regards to Steve Hillage's guitar work), slowly drifting into a jazz fusion sound. It is usually regarded as a transitional album between Daevid Allen's incarnation of the band and the Pierre Moerlen-led fusion lineup of the late 1970s. The album was produced by Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason.

Near Mint (NM or M-) a nearly perfect record. No obvious signs, of wear. Only signs of slight handling.
Very Good Plus (VG+) Some signs of wear, slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect play. Label may have some ring wear, discoloration but barely noticeable. Cover may show slight wear such as lightly turned up corners & slight seam split. LP cover may have slight signs of wear.
Very Good (VG) Many of the defects found in VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG record. Groove wear will start to be noticeable. Labels may have writing, tape or stickers attached. The same will be true of sleeves or LP cover.
Good(G), Good Plus (G+) Record will play without skipping, but will have surface noise, scratches and visible groove wear.
Cover will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear will be evident.
