GONN

"Blackout Of Gretely"  b/w "Pain In My Heart"

RARE! 1966 ORIGINAL ISSUE Emir SS-9217, the first record by the legendary Iowa garage band, the 'A' side featured on the Rhino 'Nuggets' box set, picked as #4 on the MOJO MAGAZINE PLAYLIST in January 2006, and recently heard on Little Steven's Underground, just name a few recent landmarks in a 4-decade run. It's a classic monster garage single that has a life of it's own!

The labels both have light stacking wear but nothing major, some slight center hole label wear on the 'Blackout' side (which leads me to think that 'Pain In My heart' might have been the original owner's fave) some typical but moderate label soil ring, all print is clear and unaltered. No writing, no stickers.

Playing surface has a lot of play wear, stacking wear, scuffs and scratches, but we played this through on both sides with 1 gram tracking and it plays fine. It has a varying degree of continual surface noise which is to be expected, but it is certainly listenable, very playable. I have absolutely no doubt that with a good Nitty Gritty cleaning to get the grunge of years of no sleeve protection out of the grooves, this could sound VG+. As it is I'd give it a VG- for surface appearance and VG+ for labels.

A maximum of 600 of these were pressed 40 years ago. The fact that they ever turn up at all in any condition is a testament to the fact that those who had it, liked it and kept it. Here's your chance to have the real thing.
