Record is unmarked & shows no sign of play. Stunning condition. Doubt if you’ll find one better. The sleeve is good but has a crease and small damage to the lower corner. The back is very clean.
A real UK landmark album from 1968, with a 25-year-old John McLaughlin joining the late pianist Gordon Beck's trio, which also featured the now-abstract percussionist, composer and Cecil Taylor partner Tony Oxley, and bassist Jeff Clyne. The tunes are all 60s pop hits, but the quartet explores them purely as jazz vehicles, with a full-on attack, sweeping freedom and strong collective feel. Forget the originals – it’s a superb jazz album well deserved of its legendary status.
