This MASSIVELY RARE LP initially sold barely anything (LP's were also really expensive to most people back then!!!) and therefore had a very small run, and is INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND!!! CONDITION

Matt-Textured Gatefold Sleeve: VG + near Excellent

 The very fragile, thick original textured gatefold sleeve, is in near excellent condition. This is one of the rare first batch of covers that came with the heavily textured/mottled white effect. Has a very clean whiteness to the outer gatefold. Being pure white this sleeve is notorious for becoming rather discoloured and grubby. This copy does have some small age stains near the bottom edge on the front (please see pic.no 10), and a few more higher up near the spine. Nothing too serious....they are really not that noticeable. I've mostly kept this sleeve in a PVC cover for the past 30 years as protection. The corners are nice and square, the seams are tight with only a little minor seam roughness and shelf wear on the lower back edge. The opening edges are excellent, only a little feathering. The spine is straight and fully readable with three very small little stress crease bumps and only minor rubbing. The beautiful multicoloured interior design of the gatefold is super clean and virtually unmarked.
The rear of the sleeve has some light general wear, with a couple of minor creases. Also on the back, lower left near the spine, there is a small (60mm x 15mm) white tipp-ex mark which covers writing (see picture no.9).  The sleeve has NO seam splits, NO tears and NO rips. The cover grades strictly at VG + near EX.

Overall a very nice example of this legendary Vertigo textured gatefold sleeve.

The record labels are in EXCELLENT condition (see pictures) with NO stickers, NO writing, NO tears and only a few VERY light spindle traces!!!

Vinyl: Excellent

The THICK CHUNKY 1st PRESS STEREO VINYL retains it's HIGH GLOSS and LUSTRE with NO nasty marks and NO nasty scratches!! Under a strong light you can see some very light wispy hairlines and a few light paper scuffs, these do not seriously affect the playback on my Linn Deck at all!! The record plays excellently throughout with a superb clear sonic sound. It goes without saying that the music always sounds great, this truly is a PROG CLASSIC of the highest order, and the sound quality is excellent too. The record plays beautifully throughout with NO sticking, NO jumps, ONLY a very little, very feint crackle and very few tiny 'ticks' in a couple of places. Virtually nnoticeable. There is some absolutely ULTRA faint touches of MEGA low level static background sound, mainly on the run in grooves, gaps and near the start of "Fugue in D Minor" on the second side. Nothing major and nothing to seriously spoil your enjoyment or listening experience of this AMAZING prog rock album. I grade the record strictly at Excellent.

Legendary British progressive band, and their classic Swirl Vertigo debut-album explains why!! The first side of the album seems to have a concept about heaven and hell, and the lifestyles which will lead to one of those places (if you believe that bulls**t!). The music is good old English progressive with loads of mellotron and harpsichord. The highlight is the beautiful "Heaven". With its floating mellotron theme and symphonic sound, this track lives up to its name. "Hell" is, as you may suggest, a much more uglier and heavier track with some very distorted organ creating a perfect hell-atmosphere. You can almost smell the sulphur! "Fugue in 'D' Minor" is a pure baroque piece played on guitar and harpsichord. The 16-minute "The Dream" features a load of time changes and different moods. From symphonic and beautiful, to disharmonious and energetic. This is a mighty impressive and truly progressive rock album that every 70's progressive rock fan should own!!

Records Are Graded In The Following Way:

MINT (M): The record displays barely any signs of use, if any, with no marks or deterioration in sound quality. Extra items and cover are near perfect.

EXCELLENT (EX): Shows only minor signs of being played with very little lessening in sound quality. The Cover and extras will have some light wear and or creasing

VERY GOOD (VG): Has been played many times but has no major deterioration in sound quality, despite some noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches. Cover and extras will have normal wear and tear but no major defects

GOOD (G): Has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and any extras may suffer from folding, scuffing, split spine, discoloration etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable and has considerable surface noise and may even jump. Cover and contents will be torn stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly. Covers badly damaged or partly missing

+ or - : Indicates slightly better (+) or slightly lesser (-) condition than main grade

Packing Procedures: All 12" / LPs are securely and well packed in top quality material to avoid any unnecessary damage during transit. When posted the records are removed from the cover, if possible, and placed in a PVC outer protective sleeve to prevent sleeve splits in the post. I use brand new mailers, either the envelope style with thick stiffeners to prevent any sleeve bends in transit, or the "cruciform" style that wrap around the LP. I aim to dispatch all items within 48 hours of receiving payment. It is recommended that you choose the insurance option for higher value items. As stated above I cannot be held responsible for any item(s) lost or damaged in the post that are not shipped via insured / registered mail. I always obtain a certificate proof of posting receipt for every item sent, which will complete our transaction.
