"Live At Klooks Kleek" . Recorded in 1965 - previously unissued.
DECAL 47. Original 1988 issue.
Ex Condition. Sleeve is in fine condition, with good colour photo of the band. A SCARCE ITEM.
Included is a loose sheet which is autographed by Dick Heckstall-Smith with a small self-drawn cartoon of himself which he inserted when he gave me this album. Great & unique collector's item !

To the uninitiated, Klooks Kleek was one of London's finest venues during the mid-1960s for quality British blues bands. It was located behind a pub with an entrance in a side street in West Hampstead. I recall seeing the Graham Bond Organization gigs there and being hit by the sound waves from his Hammond organ's Leslie horns as I walked in from the street ! His performances have stuck in my memory for over 40 years now, which gives some idea of the impression he made on those fortunate enough to catch this group at its zenith.
The classic line-up on this album is Graham Bond - vocals, hammond organ & alto sax/ Dick Heckstall-Smith - tenor sax / Jack Bruce - vocals, bass & harmonica / Ginger Baker - drums.
This is a powerful set of recordings which reflect how this amazing band sounded at the time at one of its regular gigs. Dick turned this copy up in Italy and I really know nothing else about it. It is essential for anybody interested in the British blues scene during the 1960s.
