THE GRAHAM COLLIER SEXTET - DOWN ANOTHER ROAD
Great condition 1969 UK 1st press copy of this highly collectable jazz rarity
Year/Label : 1969 UK FONTANA Label number : SFJL.922 Matrix numbers : 886513 1Y//2 420, 886513 2Y//1 420 Stampers : 1 4, 1 1 3Truly excellent plus (EX+) condition jet black sheen vinyl, virtually unmarked...with very close inspection under a bright light you may just be able to detect a couple of extremely light and faint paper scuffs, but basically that's it. No hairlines, no warping, and completely flat - wonderful! Pristine labels - I can just about make out three or four small and extremely faint spindle trails on each label adjacent to the centre hole but apart from that the labels remain unmarked. Clearly this is a record that has been very sparingly played. Fully laminated, excellent plus (EX+) condition outer sleeve with firm and unscuffed edges (not even the hint of a light scuff mark in sight!); the spine is also firm with all spine text remaining perfectly intact; each corner remains a perfectly defined right angle with barely any rubbing at all, and the opening edges remain straight and taut with no fraying or foxing. The only blemishes are just a few non-obvious small and very light surface laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the edges on the front side...nothing really. Apart from this the condition of the sleeve is hard to fault with all of the art work, colouring, photos and text remaining beautifully intact. Exquisite! Near mint (NM) audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, clicks, interference or distortion and not even a hint of any background crackle - outstanding for vinyl of this age. Great tone with crystal clear instrumentation and every track a great listen with Graham Collier (bass), Harold Beckett (flugel horn), Stan Sulzman (alto and tenor sax), Nick Evans (trombone), Karl Jenkins (oboe and piano), and John Marshall (drums) at their innovative best. Comes with original and great condition "MADE IN ENGLAND" with "British Patent..." text inner sleeve with no edge splits, no tears or rips or edge fraying, and barely any age discolouration or creasing. Surely there cannot be many copies of this very rare 1969 UK 1st press jazz gem in better condition than this.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
