GRAND PRIX'S SARA 6354 LINDA-SAN JOSE MINT TEEN ROCKER
Artist:-- Grand Prix's Label: -- Sara (Cuca) Label number:-- 6354 Songs:-- Linda/San Hose Condition of vinyl:-- MINT Play grade:-- MINT Notes:-- This rare record was recorded at Cuca Records, Sauk City, Wis., in 1963 on the Sara label. Only 500 copies were issued. The record came directly from a family member; it has been stored away until now, never played. Wisconsin based Cuca label was known for their rockabilly and rock'n'roll recordings. Best known for the 1960 mega hit 'Muleskinner Blues' by the Fendermen, Cuca was a very big deal locally. Owner Jim Kirchstein ran his own studio and even pressed his own records. From 1959 he put out hundreds of records on Cuca, Sara and various subsidiaries. Founded in 1959, Cuca Records would go on to record everything from polka to rock to gospel. Kirchstein would release about 2,000 singles and 150 LPs during the company's 14-year existence, many of which spotlighted the Midwest's vast garage rock scene. The Sara name and trademark became a Cuca subsidiary in 1961 and this label carried mainly rock selections. The recording artists on this great instrumental and teen rocker (The Grand Prix's) are: Rick Berkanovic, guitar, vocals ; Kenny Knoll, guitar, vocals ; Don Longhurst, bass, vocals ; Jeff Hammer, drums. Here's a link to the Cuca studio: Cuca History Don't miss your chance to own this one! This is one of a number of records I've got up for auction; most in great condition. Grading
MINT * Perfect record, clean gloss, no marks. A mint record is uncommon.
MINT- * Very clean only a few light marks; plays very well.
VG++ * Surface marks, no scratches, should play and look very good with faint, if any, audible surface noise.
VG+ * The record shows signs of use, but plays well despite quite visible surface marks and possibly some light scratches. This grading is often used for records which have not been cared for perfectly but still play well overall. A few very faint clicks may be allowed, and will be included in the description.
VG * Still a nice record, looks used, light scratches, no gouges, still plays fairly well. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music.
VG- * Record shows wear, marks, scratches, surface noise.
