“Arkey Blue” was born Arkey Juenke in Fredericksburg, Texas, but Arkey and his Silver Dollar Saloon are so strongly identified with Bandera that visitors from all over the world come specifically to walk through the famous red door, hear the music and admire the artifacts that define Blue’s 44 years at the same location.
The former dude ranch wrangler can legitimately claim the title of “cowboy” and he has the pictures to prove it, but it’s as a songwriter and performer that Arkey Blue found fame. He’s written close to 100 songs, recorded many of these, and owns his own publishing company, aptly called “Bandera Music."
Inducted into the Bandera Music Hall of Fame as its first Living Legend in 2005, Blue was honored again in 2011 as Songwriter of the Year. In the words of one of Arkey Blue's songs, “There’s Still Country Music In Texas," and Texas Hero Arkey Blue is still making it.
Gabe Tucker was an American musician, manager, music director, producer, and entertainer, born 1915 in Green County, Kentucky; Tucker died January 25, 2003 in Houston, Texas. Worked with Eddy Arnold, Elvis Presley, Red Foley and Ernest Tubb, among others He was in the following bands: Gabe Tucker & His Musical Ramblers and Gabe Tucker And His Sky Riders.
Jim Gough was born on March 18, 1931 in Stephenville, Texas, USA. He was an actor, known for JFK (1991), Eddie Macon's Run (1983) and Urban Cowboy (1980). He literally appeared in hundreds of films and televisions shows. He fronted the band, The Cosmopolitan Cowboys. In 1999, he was inducted into the Western Swing Society's Hall of Fame.
He was previously married to Gail Yvonne Williams.
He died on June 7, 2016
