Producer Dan Grigson, the man behind Grantby, is a man with plenty of tales to tell, from battling off physical assault from Mark E. Smith in a studio cafeteria to being at one point literally held hostage and ordered to write a film score for a nameless criminal organisation. With this in mind it's perhaps a surprise that his project is as sedate and relaxed as it is, although less so that it's taken him seventeen years plus to follow up his original EP under this name. Embraced initially by the downtempo/Mo'Wax scene in the '90s, the sound of Grantby now as then measures a pleasant stroll between Eno-esque spectral ambience and widescreen filmic melancholia.
