For sale is NORMAN GRANZ' "Jazz At The Philharmonic," BOX SET,  MG Vol. 16, MONO, DG, 1954. This original box-set includes three 12-inch records, one 10-inch record, and a folio of artist photos (complete original set of 13 photos.) Featuring Oscar Peterson, Ben Webster, Flip Phillips, Roy Eldridge, Benny Carter, Gene Krupa, others. 
SOUND: VG+ The entire set consists of three 12-inch records and one 10-inch record. All have been machine-cleaned and I listened to all completely. The playbacks are essentially very nice, extremely enjoyable, but there is one caveat: some of these sides have audible, but very soft, muffled "thumps." These are associated with tiny "bubbles" in the vinyl (see below in "Vinyl" section.) Personally, those "thumps" do not interfere with my overall enjoyment, and are much less annoying than typical crackles or tics one might hear on a vintage record in VG/VG+ condition. Aside from soft "thumps," these sides sound beautifully clean: no tics, pops, crackle or static. I think a grade of VG+ for the playback is accurate.
Disc1, side A is overall lovely, clean and crisp! Side B has occasional muffled "thumps." Still very nice overall, thoroughly enjoyable even though side B is a "ballad" set. Disc 2, side A sounds very nice, great playback! Side B has scattered, muffled "thumps." Disc 3, side A sounds very nice, albeit with muffled "thumps." Side B is the same. Disc 4 (10-inch): side A has a little soft crackle in the first minute or so, the remainder very sharp and clear. Side B is the same.
VINYL: VG As I mentioned above, these discs have tiny "bubbles" in the vinyl. I believe these are a manufacturing flaw. I assume most vinyl collectors have seen and experienced this phenomenon. There is an audible effect, which is akin to a muffled sort of "thump"-sound. Very soft, volume-wise. Personally, I find this much less problematic than ticks or pops from routine scratches or scuffs. Upon examination, the vinyl appears in very good, clean condition, except for the easily-seen small vinyl "bubbles." A little research on Discogs indicates that this defect is common in this issue. I graded the overall vinyl "VG" which seems a safe and conservative approach. 
JACKET: VG+ Laminated David Stone Martin cover is clean and in great condition. The top of the box has 2 small rips in the seams. The folio contains 13 matte-finish portraits of the artists on 8-1/4 x 10-1/2" thick paper. The condition of all these photos is near-perfect, just beautiful!
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics. 
Plays very nicely, overall clear sound, with the occasional low-register thumps. Beautiful, complete folio set. Buy it for $35.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability. 
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.  
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction.
