Description

GRATEFUL DEAD "AMERICAN BEAUTY" Original 1970 U.S. Warner Brothers white label promo LP. One of their best records w/"Truckin'", "Ripple", "Box Of Rain" + 7 more classics. Stereo WS 1893. M-/M/

By the time of "American Beauty", San Francisco's Grateful Dead had established themselves as America's foremost psychedelic jam band thanks to their live appearances featuring long improvisational versions of the songs contained on their studio albums. But on this album & their previous release "Workingman's Dead" from earlier in the year of 1970, they proved that they could write concise catchy songs. Some of their best material is on this LP- "Truckin'", "Ripple", "Box Of Rain" & other classics are among the 10 tracks mostly co-written with songwriter & future Dead member Robert Hunter. Perhaps surprisingly the band had an almost country rock feel on much of this material. The original line-up of Jerry Garcia (vocals & lead guitar), Bob Weir (rhythm guitar), Phil Lesh (bass), Bill Kreutzmann (drums) & Ron "Pigpen" McKernan (vocals, organ & harmonica) was augmented bu Mickey Hart on percussion.

Cover looks great with no ring wear, writing, tears or split seams. The only flaw is slight edge-wear, more prominent on the corners. Rated at near MINT. The record has no scratches or scuffs & looks unplayed. Rated MINT. The white Warner Brothers labels marked "Promotion Not For Sale" are in great shape & indicate that it is an original promo copy from 1970.
