Description
RARE GRATEFUL DEAD SINGLE
This remarkable artefact is one of the hardest Dead items to find.
Although technically a re-issue, the remarkable circumstances
under which it was released make it particularly collectable.
Most fans know the song Dark Star as a live
improvisational workout, running to almost thirty minutes.
However a 45rpm single version was released
in America in 1968 with Born Cross-Eyed as its b-side.
This is hard to find.
Fast forward to 1977 and a superb rock magazine
called Dark Star now exists in the UK.To promote the magazine,
the editors arrange an exclusive one-off deal with WEA
to re-release the single via the magazine in the UK only.
A very small number were printed off,
with new, unique artwork and, if I remember rightly,
they could only be bought by mail order.
(I seem to recall that's how I got my copy.
