Grateful Dead ~ From The Mars Hotel ~ MFSL 1-172 LP Condition: FACTORY SEALED 1st Issue, not the reissue! Whats the difference between 1st and the much later issue? Big difference! Reissue was produced by Music Direct (The original Mobile Fidelity went bankrupt. MD bought the rights. Different company, different process, different product similarly packaged [yellow banner]). The original issue was mastered when the original session tapes were fresh (ferrite placement for sonic reproduction in its perfect place, not yet realigning over time due magnetic north or south depending where you live, and all the magnetic sources that surround us in day to day life. Original tapes had a resilient mylar structure, not aging, brittle structure. Originals were pure analog, no digital touch-up! The original was mastered by the genius when he was young with acute hearing that could hear sonic nuance and to engineer for it. Stan Ricker came from JVC Japan where this LP was made on the finest JVC Super Vinyl, cut on Nippon Gramophone best in class analog equipment. This LP stored upright on the shelf for all these years. FYI, Polybag has some tearing. Pretty common.
