Grateful Dead released their second double-disc live album in October 1971. The front cover identifies the title as just "Grateful Dead" but most fans refer to it as the "Skull & Roses" album in recognition of the iconic Alton Kelly and Stanley Mouse artwork. All of the tracks were recorded at the Fillmore East and Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC except for "Johnny B. Goode" which was recorded at Winterland in San Francisco.

This very rare copy of (2WS 1935) is from the First Pressing 50-years-ago and is in excellent condition. The gatefold cover is solid with only slight shelf wear and is easily VG+. Please see the pictures. Both discs with the original olive green Warner Bros. labels test played cleanly and are also VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. It was mastered by Artisan Sound Recorders in Hollywood and was pressed at the Columbia Records plant in Santa Maria, Calif. The Side One dead wax is etched S1 2WS-1935-A 39943-1B (Artisan logo stamp).

In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with two high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Inner Sleeves to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.

This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 50 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
