Grateful Dead was a band from San Francisco that combined different styles in their music. The Dead were for a long time artistically and musically independent, but this changed fundamentally as for many bands in 1977. This year, the album Terrapin Station was released, which was received very mixed by fans and critics.

Formed in 1965, the formation soon took on an important position within the US music scene. Core of the troupe were next to the guitarist Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir and Bill Kreutzmann. The musical style of the band was colorful and rich. She blithely mixed psychedelic, country, blues, bluegrass and more, creating her own unique style. Grateful Dead quickly became a hippie icon, and in 1969 they even played at the legendary Woodstock festival, though little is known. In fact, the band's performance is neither heard in the movie nor on the soundtrack. Only the bootleg brings a recording of the gig, but unfortunately in a very poor quality.

After various changes and new appointments, among other things due to the death of the long-time keyboarder Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, the band - supplemented by Mickey Hart, Keith & Donna Godchaux - then found a temporary permanent occupation in the late seventies, with the present album Terrapin Station was recorded. The line-up at the time of shooting looked like this:

On the one hand, it's the first album since 1968, in which the band was not even a producer, on the other hand, it was published by a large and professional label. The executive producer was Keith Olsen, who had previously worked with Fleetwood Mac, Eric Burdon, and others. Olsen was mainly responsible for the unfamiliar sound and orchestration .....................................

In diesem Jahr erschien das Album Terrapin Station, das von Fans und Kritikern sehr gemischt aufgenommen wurde.

1965 gegründet, nahm die Formation bald eine wichtige Position innerhalb der US-amerikanischen Musikszene ein. Kern der Truppe waren neben dem Gitarristen Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir und Bill Kreutzmann. Der musikalische Stil der Band war bunt und reichhaltig. Sie mischte ungeniert Psychedelic, Country, Blues, Bluegrass und vieles andere und kreierten daraus ihren ganz eigenen und unverwechselbaren Stil. Grateful Dead wurden schnell zu einer Hippie-Ikone, und so spielten sie 1969 sogar auf dem legendären Woodstock-festival, obwohl dies wenig bekannt ist. Tatsächlich ist der Auftritt der Band weder im Film, noch auf dem Soundtrack zu hören. Lediglich der Bootleg bringt einen Mitschnitt des Gigs, leider aber in einer sehr schlechten Qualität.

Nach diversen Um- und Neubesetzungen, unter anderem bedingt durch den Tode des langjährigen Keyboarders Ron „Pigpen“ McKernan, fand die Band – ergänzt durch Mickey Hart, Keith & Donna Godchaux – dann Ende der Siebziger zu einer vorläufig festen Besetzung, mit der auch das vorliegende Album Terrapin Station aufgenommen wurde. Das Line-up zum Zeitpunkt der Aufnahmen sah folgendermaßen aus:

It is a completely original ANALOGUE HALFSPEED PRESSING. This analoge HALFSPEED-LP/RECORD is long out of print and is an extremely rare title.  This is one of the rarest titles to find, especially perfect " FACTORY SEALED ".  This analoge HALFSPEED-LP/RECORD comes from my own personal collection and smoke-free environment. ........
