Description
- Grateful Dead released their sixth studio album "Wake Of The Flood" in October 1973. With cover art by Rick Griffin, it was the band's first on its own Grateful Dead Records label and was a commercial success making it into the Top 20. It was also the first album without founding member Ron "Pigpen" McKernan.
- The Dead were notoriously bad businessmen and their label collapsed in 1976. This record was out-of-print for many years and many low-quality bootleg copies were created to fill the void. You can tell the original version like this one because the price code 0598 on the bottom of the spine was printed in orange and not white.
- This copy of (GD-01) is from the First Pressing and is in exceptional condition. The cover still has its original Factory Shrink Wrap and is in near mint condition. Please see the pictures. The disc test plays cleanly and is easily VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. It was mastered by Trent Strickland at The Lacquer Channel in Sausalito, Calif. and was pressed by Monarch Records Mfg. Co. in Los Angeles. The Side One dead wax is etched GD-01-A-M51-RE-3 (MR) ?18388 (2) [TLC] 10/6/73 except the Monarch (MR) logo and The Lacquer Channel [TLC] logos which are stamped.
- In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Inner Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.
- Free shipping is included in the special corrugated album mailer seen in the last picture.
- This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 48 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
