GRAVY TRAIN - (SAME) ORIGINAL UK VERTIGO LARGE SWIRL 1ST PRESSING 1970 THE VINYL IS IN GREAT SHAPE.
COVER: THE TEXTURED GATEFOLD COVER IS STRONG AND FLAT, LIGHT EDGES, CORNERS AND SPINE WEAR AND I CAN SEE A BIT OF TOUCHING UP CORNERS AND ON SPINE WHICH IS FULLY LEGIBLE, SOMEONE HAS PEELED A COUPLE OF STICKERS OFF TOP RIGHT CORNER, THE DAMAGED SPOTS HAVE BEEN TOUCHED UP WITH MATCHING COLOURS AND THE RED VERTIGO LOGO NOW LOOKS COMPLETE - PLEASE SEE THE IMAGES BELOW, IT IS ALMOST UNNOTICEABLE AT FIRST, NOT A BAD JOB, NO OTHER PROBLEMS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. STILL A NICE SOLID COVER, WOULD'VE BEEN GRADED EXCELLENT BUT BECAUSE OF STICKER TEARS: VG-

Typifying the excesses that have frequently been denounced in their genre, UK progressive rock band Gravy Train recorded a series of albums for Vertigo Records and Dawn Records in the early 70s bedecked in grandiose, conceptual artwork. The group’s core members were Norman Barratt (vocals/guitar; b. 5 February 1949, d. 30 July 2011), Barry Davenport (drums), J.D. Hughes (woodwind/keyboards/vocals) and Les Williams (bass/vocals). Their first, self-titled 1970 album was dominated by Hughes’ flute melodies, which earned the group initial comparisons to Jethro Tull, as well as extended rock riffs. One of the songs, ‘Tribute To Syd’, was an obvious salute to the genius of Syd Barrett. ../progarchives. com/
