Description
I've owned this original 1974 white label test pressing of "Staircase to the Day" by Gravy Train for many years. I am the second owner. This is a unique and very rare test pressing in outstanding first-class near pristine condition. I have been collecting prog vinyl for over 40 years and only seen one copy of this LP as a test press - and I bought it. I've not seen another copy.
The LP is the original 1st Pressing on Dawn Records, 1974, with the earliest dead wax hand etched matrices:

I have only played it a couple of times and fully play tested throughout before this listing to confirm sound quality and reproduction. Audibly the record playback is MINT, no background noise, no crackles, absolutey perfect, a real gem. Amazing sound quality and reproduction on my Michelle Gyrodec turntable.
Visually the vinyl is spotless and looks exceptional, there are only 1 or 2 small faint hairlines from removal from the paper inner. It is beautiful and very comfortably Mint- [Mint Minus]. I can't grade it as Mint because it has been played a few times and each label has a small spindle mark at the centre. I graded under bright light.
The original white card sleeve has a small label at the front with hand written catalogue number and release date. The Band name is written in pen at the front. At the rear of the sleeve is another label with hand written track lisings. The sleeve has no splits rips or tears. It has some discoloration, light foxing and marks and grades VG+.
The record is housed inside a thin white paper inner which is in Excellent condition.
Overall, this is the stunning 4th album by Gravy Train. A very rare unique test pressing copy in immaculate M- condition that plays and sounds beautiful.
