few words about Mariangela...
Let's take things from the beginning. The full name is Mariangela Celeste Papaconstantinu, although she wishes to be called Mariangela Celeste. Her mother is Italian and her father Greek and were both professional singers of the Opera. He grew naturally in an environment with rich artistic stimuli. Born in Milan, but in the six years they moved to Germany, where they stayed until the early 70s, when they came to stay in Greece.
From the 11 years he started playing guitar and writing her own songs that play to friends and friends of. A young friend of enthusiast with voice and compositions and recorded her songs on a tape which then played in a famous television producer. The producer impressed arranged to show the young Mariangela the very next week's music show. Was the Show every second week singing her own compositions in English songs impressing everyone.
When it first appeared on TV in Greece was considered a child wonder and although he was only 13 years her songs reflect the thoughts and concerns and deal with the deeper meaning of life, love and loneliness!
After a few months of its presence on television was offered to sign a contract with Polygram. All were remarkably fast and after a while the Mariangela selected to represent Greece in the World Popular song Festival that took place in Japan.
Turning as we wrote above recorded his first Single and became known to young age mainly by many teenagers to stay up all night with the angelic beauty and timbre of her voice like that awful voice of Karen Carpenter known image of decade '70 and in some places the depth of her voice touches Carly Simon.
A year after his second Single of the songs "My close my God" and "My Heaven" on Polydor, 2061 194.
The first is its composition and the second written by successful singer and composer Kostas Tourna. Until then did not speak a word of Greek and until today the accent is quite split.
And there in the life of Vangelis comes from London. Impressed by her songs asks Polygram in the context of a collaboration with the company which had to choose an artist to do a production with him, to allow him to record a single in London. So the teenager Mariangela in London next to Vangelis Papathanassiou.
When he went to Orange Studios near Piccadilly, Papathanasiou was recording with Socrates famous album "Phos". The Mariangela sat all those hours in the studio watching the recording (also was coeval with the 15-year Greek Canadian Niki-Angelika Mackinnon-Andrew, wife of Anthony Tourkogiorgis had written the lyrics to many songs of the album).
At the end came to the offer to do all the female vocals on the album and so without itself unexpectedly found to participate in the famous album of Socrates. The Papathanasiou were pleased by the Single and asks the Polygram and an LP with Mariangela with more natural songs. The recording and mixing the songs lasts for six weeks.
