GROBSCHNITT ‘ROCKPOMMEL’S LAND’ VINYL LP ORANGE BRAIN LABEL IN LAMINATED GATEFOLD SLEEVE COMPLETE WITH LYRIC INSERT IN STUNNING, MINT CONDITION

 

This is an excellent bit of German symphonic progressive rock released in 1977 that exhibits intricate ensemble work, great synthesizer sounds, haunting melodies, and sophisticated arrangements that are on a par with their English counterparts (especially "Foxtrot" and "Wind and Wuthering" period Genesis). What sets "Rockpommels Land" apart however is the generally sunny and friendly feeling that the music evokes.

 

With Grobschnitt's superb musicianship, the album constitutes a welcome addition to a body of music that is essentially "dark" and "serious".The highlight of the album of course is the 20-minute multi-movement suite "Rockpommels Land" which encapsulates the attributes that fans of progressive rock look for; namely epic-length and instrumental virtuosity.

 

This original issue complete with a Mint insert is in stunning condition which shows off to best advantage the fantastic (literally) artwork of the psychedelic foldout sleeve.  Worthy of Roger Dean himself, it is a piece of art in its own right.

 

Sleeve condition: Near mint.  Lovely, unmarked condition.

 

Record Condition: Mint. There isn’t much I ever see that I would risk giving a Mint grade to.  This is an exception.  There are no centring marks on the record label and I doubt that this LP has ever seen a turntable.  Plays flawlessy.  Apart form that, this is the best possible, collector’s condition imaginable.
