GROUNDHOGS Blues Obituary UK Liberty A1/B1 TONY McPHEE Blues Rock Psych
The Groundhogs, Blues Obituary.
Original circa 1969 UK pressed Liberty Records stereo LP, LBS 83253.
This is the early black label pressing which apparently replaced the blue label around 1970. The label crossover is a moot point however, as this pressing has very earliest A1/B1 matrix suffixes.
Labels strangely credit THE GROUNDHOGS BLUES as band and "Obituary" as title, although I believe this is common to this title, on both the blue and black labels.
Vinyl a top end VG plus, strictly graded. Labels are bright and clean and there is not much evidence of spider trail marks around the spindle areas. Playing surfaces are still bright and glossy, and display just a few light and superficial scuff marks, no heavy marks or scratches. There are just a very few soft to mid-level ticks. Strangely these occur right at the end of both sides. In both instances these are very short in number and are not attributable to any obvious marks. Else this is a very clean playing LP, and not far from EX. The occasional spot of very low level crackle and soft isolated tick, but this is really very few and far between, and the surfaces are underlyingly quiet with rich sonorous sound displaying no groove wear or distortion. LP still provides a really comfortable listening experience.
Front laminated external sleeve close to EX with just marginal shelving/handling wear and short pinch line creases leading in from edge areas. No pen marks, stickers, loss etc., and no wear to spine or edges. Matt rear panel clean and unmarked with just marginal shelving rubbing. Entry side crisp and sharp.
